Academic Overview
Royal Higher Secondary School of Science & Technology (Royal College of Science & Technology) was established in the year 2003. This college is the pioneer of residential concept in odisha at the +2 level. The college is recognized by the Department of Higher Education, Odisha and affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha. We follow CHSE curriculum for XI & XII Science classes. The total number of seats is only 384 in each class of +2 course.
Subject Offered
As RCST emphasizes quality and not on quantity, it may not be interested in taking students to the strength.
- Compulsory Subjects : English, M.I.L (Oriya/Alternative English/Hindi/Sanskrit), Physics(P), Chemistry(C)
- Fourth Elective Subjects : Mathematics (M), Biology (B), Information Technology(IT)
Subject combinations : PCM-B, PCM-IT, PCB-IT
SPECIAL ENTRANCE COACHING :
Almost 98% of students who take entrance coaching in RCST, come out successful in getting good ranks. Our alumni their study in different Engineering /Medical colleges including IIT, NEET, NISER and other institutions inside India and abroad.
There is provision for Special Entrance Coaching only for selected students by PHYSICS WALLA. For this, an extra amount Rs. 30,000/- P.A is to be paid by the parents at the time of admission. The Parents & students should submit a written option that their wards will undergo for special Entrance Coaching at RCST & there is no refund of money once deposited for the said purpose.
Academic Session :
ACADEMIC SESSION :
The residential system of education has been adopted in this institution. A student once admitted in the 1st year class, his/her studentship continues here till the completion of CHSE examination. Therefore, for the betterment of the students performance, 1st year course is to be completed by the month of March every year and the teaching of 2nd year course starts on the 1st April. Under this circumstance RCST has been taking up the academic session for the 1st year class from the date of admission till March of next year and for 2nd year class from April to till the end of the CHSE Examination. This system may be modified depending on situation.
Career Building :
After of CHSE examination is over there is provision for separate Entrance Coaching only for the month of April & May by experts and eminent professional lecturers. For this an extra amount is to be paid by the students which will be fixed by the management. However this is optional for the students. The officials of the college render necessary assistance in filling up the forms of different entrance examination for any professional course subjects on the condition that the guardian should submit a written option that their wards will undergo JEE coaching at RCST only and deposit the amount towards coaching fee along with approximate cost of the forms within 1st to 10th December.
Examination Schedule and Evaluation
Continuous evaluation of students’ performance and progress is a special feature of RCST.
- After three/four weeks of teaching, a terminal examination is conducted with questions coming from the portions taught till the examination.
- For the 1st year students besides Weekly Test , Terminal Examination, Half yearly examination, Annual Examination, OMR & surprise test are conducted.
- For the 2nd year students besides Weekly Test, Terminal examination, Pretest, Test, OMR, VST (Very Similar Test) are conducted. (Please refer to the Academic Schedule)
Examination Rules
- Promotion of the 1st year students to 2nd year depends on the satisfactory performance in the Annual Exam and progress during the whole academic year taking together into consideration. Similarly following the 2nd year students to appear at the CHSE examination also depends o the consideration of the Test result. In both the cases students’ attendance in the class, their behavior and conduct are taken into account.
- It is mandatory on the part of every student to take up all the examinations conducted by the college. i.e. Terminal Examination, Half yearly Exam, Annual Exam, Pre-test exam, Test Exam, OMR Exam, Surprise Exam, VST Exam., etc.
- Disciplinary action shall be taken against the students, who remain absent from any of the examinations. Such actions may be by way of imposing a fine or in any manner
